REDAN TURNS HEADS AT EXHIBITION

November 5, 2009
By Aaron Fuller of Redan High School

Going into a four day weekend, the "Blue Thunder" marching band marched into Hallford stradium with power presicion last Thursday. They were one of the first major high school bands to enter the stadium and were already begining to catch the attention of the audience and other high school bands. For the raiders, this was not another football game half time show, this was their show. Well tuned and warmed up, they prepared to take the field under the direction of their two drum majors, head drum major Marcus Benning, and drum major Kevin Smith.

In the stands, Stephenson's marching band watched closely, sizing up the band they would see the very next day at the varsity football game between their schools. The coals of thier rivalry were already stoked into sparks as the bands met earlier a Battle of The Bands in Columbus, and would be the precurser to a direct battle between these two giants at that Friday's game.

Redan took the field in their signature high step run, opening their performance with 'Can You Feel It' by Micheal Jackson. The crowd responded to a nearly flawless down and mid- field drill and gave a standing ovation to the dance routine attributed to Micheal Jackson. After this performance, Redan was one of only three bands to recieve all superiors, the highest score. Achieving even more momentum, the "Blue Thunder" band looks to prove once and for all that they are the best band in the land.
